Site Updates & New Features

I’ve enabled some new facilities within the forum:

• Who is online.

  You’ll see a list of users currently online on the site’s main page:

  

• When you hover over a code block two new buttons will appear. One button lets you copy the code to the clipboard and the other button lets you zoom the code block:

  

  Clicking the zoom button causes the code to appear like this:

  

• Chat Support.

  Discourse now offers real-time chats in addition to forum posts. You’ll see a new button for starting chats:

  

  I’ve configured some group chats. We’ll have to experiment with this feature and make adjustments as we learn how to use it.

Great! The code zoom feature is something I was dreaming about for years - not only here but everywhere where code is displayed. Hopefully, stackoverflow will follow the suite one day.

Regarding the ‘zoom’ feature:

I wonder if there’s also a setting you can control that would allow to set the zoom window height relative to the monitor height?

For example, on a 27" monitor there’s an available space to make the zoom window twice as higher than its current height. Which would make it even more useful for long code samples.

Unfortunately I don’t have that level of control over the feature. There is an on/off switch.
