This was odd. I was using Open Quickly to find an applet. I had numerous versions of the applet and since there’s no way in OQ window to see which one was more recent or where each one is, I decided to do the same search in Spotlight. Without closing the open quickly window I clicked the Spotlight search icon in the menu bar and typed in the search term and hit return.
The applet that was found in the open quickly window, then launched, and kept relaunching until I force quit several times.
I repeated this a second and third time, although once I realized what was happening it seemed that it was easier to force quit. I think that hitting return in the Spotlight window was picked up by the Open Quickly window instead. After that it slipped into some kind of loop.
