I still use the MacScript.com Applescript Library from 2001 that added a whole lot of missing functionality (150 functions to be exact) and much simplification to the existing offering from Apple. When writing commercial solutions I found this library to be indispensable. The developers are no longer around these days and the library is not commercially available anymore. The download page is unbranded, with no links or references to me, it just contains information on this wonderful Applescript tool. Happy scripting.
