Escape Colon in Picker Tag

How can I escape a colon in the value of a customer picker entry, so that it’s not interpreted as part of the tag syntax? For example…

[[template:custompicker:Choose something:1:need a colon : here:2:Two:*]]

We don’t offer a means of escaping the colon character within a clipping. I’ve filed a bug at our end and we’ll look into this in the future.

Obviously this falls under “OCD for fun and profit,” but I thought I’d ask.
