Error message: "default template script cannot be found"

When I try to create a new script I get an error message:

The default template script cannot be found.
Please choose another default template using the General preferences panel.

When I try to open a script I get a different error:

Script Debugger.component Missing
Script Debugger requires that a copy of Script Debugger.component be present in /Library/Components or ~/Library/Components to operate correctly.

‘Script Debugger.component’ is present in ~/Library/Components

I’ve tried reinstalling Script Debugger, but the problem persists.

I’m having the exact same problem. It seems to have started rather suddenly also. Not sure when it started since I’m not in the app every day. Running SD 6.0.4 on Catalina 10.15.3

You could try giving Script Debugger Full Disk Access in System Preferences under Security & Privacy. You should also be using the latest release of Catalina (10.15.5).

If that doesn’t work, the only real solution is to upgrade to Script Debugger version 7.
